What are Lip Injections?
Every patient has a unique set of lips. Some are flat, uneven/asymmetrical, or just don’t fit the rest of the face; every patient has unique reasons for lip filler treatment. Injectable lip filler smoothes out the lines of the lip, and can highlight and rejuvenate aging lips. Patient abslutely love lip augmentation because it plumps and accentuates the lips, resulting in beautiful, fuller lips. Lip filler injections has become one of the leading and popular non surgical treatments we offer at Kitchener Waterloo Cosmetic Clinic.
Lip Injections or Lip Filler use Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Filler such as Juvederm and Belotero to Augment, Enhance, Volumize, and Contour the lips. Filler can create plump, beautiful, and luscious lips; even in patients with thin and flat lips. Some patients notice loss of lip fullness as they age, or the appearance of fine lines. Alcohol and smoking can also cause decreased lip fullness, and lead to wrinkling.
Lip Filler is often used in combination with Dermal Filler placed in other areas of the face, or other treatments such as Botox, Microneedling, and Peels, to harmonize and re-profile the entire face.

Dermal Filler is a natural, Hyaluronic Acid injection. Lip Injections can Volumize, Plump, Contour, and Shape the Lips.
Dermal Filler is traditionally used for Lip Augmentation, Liquid Face Lift, Jaw Sculpting, Under Eye Filling, Chin Projection, Cheek Lifting, Nasolabial fold and Marionette Line filling, Deep Creases, and more. Fillers will volumize the face, fill creases, and smooth out fine lines and wrinkles.
Dermal Filler for Lips:
- Volumize Lip Size
- Fix Asymmetry
- Contour Lip Border
- Smooth Fine Lines of the Lip
- Reshape Lips
The Lips are a diverse part of the face, and the structure, shape, and profile are different from patient to patient.
Choosing the Right Lip Filler
At Kitchener Waterloo Cosmetic Clinic we use multiple different filler types from all the leading pharmaceutical companies. We utilize only the gold standard Health Canada approved fillers, made from Hyaluronic Acid. Lip Filler can last from 6-12 months on average, and is safe when done in the hands of an expert injector. Rest assured that your injections will be performed by a Medical Doctor (MD).
COST of Lip Injections?
Dermal filler cost for lip injections is based on the type of product used, number of syringes needed, and particular patient goals. Filler pricing varies depending on which clinic you visit, and who is performing the injections.
All Lip Filler Injections are performed by Dr. Dawood MD CCFP.
Every patient is completely different, and we are a boutique results-focused cosmetic clinic and medical spa. Factors such as age and lifestyle can determine treatment planning. It is impossible to quote you a price before seeing you for consultation, and we always recommend patients budget for 1-2 syringes more than what you start with. 1 syringe of dermal filler is 1mL will provide a very subtle enhancement. For more dramatic results additional syringes are required.
Dermal fillers for lip augmentation is a great nonsurgical alternative to plastic surgery, but be realistic in your goals and finances. You may not achieve your goals with just 1 syringe. Most patients are satisfied after 2 syringes, and usually come back for more as they love the look of their new lips.
Average Cost Per Syringe: $900 Regular, See Promotions Page

How are Dermal Filler and Lip Injections Performed?
The first step is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Rayhaan Dawood MD CCFP. Dr. Dawood is an expert Cosmetic Physican with experience in Advanced and Expert level Dermal Filler treatments. He has trained along with and under some of the industry’s top physicians and injectable experts from across the world. At your consultation Dr. Dawood will assess your overall health and medical history, define your goals, and formulate a treatment plan. Depending on your goals, injections may be planned for your upper, lower, or both lips, as well as the edges, corners, and philtrum columns.
At the time of treatment a topical numbing cream will be applied to minimize discomfort. Filler will then be injected using a very fine needle. Overall time in office is 30-60 minutes, with actual injections taking 15-30minutes.
As soon as your treatment is complete the injected hyaluronic acid will begin to integrate and absorb into your tissue and begin to bind water molecules within the soft tissue and skin. Most patients may have a bit of bruising and bleeding, as well as some redness to the area. This will settle in 1-3 days, and swelling will subside totally within 2 weeks.
Most patients return to their regular daily routine immediately post-treatment, and a follow up check-up appointment will be scheduled for 2 weeks after your treatment date.

Lip Injection Types:
Lip Injections are done with a variety of hyaluronic acid products. Juvederm and Belotero are the main products used at Kitchener Waterloo Cosmetic Clinic.
Dr. Dawood will utilize either a needle or cannula injection technique depending on your particular lip structure.
All Lip Injections are done with temporary Hyaluronic Acid. Filler will absorb into the body over time and remain in the lips for 6 months – 1 year.
We find most patients happily return after about 6 months for re-treatment as they love the look of their plump, shapely lips.
Safe Lip Filler Injections:
Remember, one of the most commonly done injections are for lips. Lip filler injections can plump up thin and flat lips.
Lip injections can restore volume, fill up vertical lines above the lips, and create beautiful lip contour and shape.
Doing a lip fill may look easy, but it requires finesse and expertise. To create a beautifully shaped lip Dr. Rayhaan Dawood uses several techniques, including needle, cannula, micro-droplet, and more.
As we age the collagen in the lip begins to break down. This creates volume loss and wrinkling in the lip tissue. The Hyaluronic Acid in dermal filler will integrate into your existing lip tissue and create a fuller, plumper, more youthful lip.
What if I Don’t Like the Results of my Lip Filler?
Hyaluronidase Filler DissolvingDermal filler treatments can always be reversed, however most patients absolutely love their results. Some patients come to us from other clinics where they have had poor results. It could be too much filler was added, or the results are too lumpy. Or they just don’t like the overall look.
If treatment was done with hyaluronic acid dermal filler then hyaluronidase can be used to reverse it by dissolving the filler. Hyaluronidase is a naturally occurring enzyme that specifically targets dermal filler hyaluronic acid, and not the naturally occurring hyaluronic acid of your body.
Ideally you should not dissolve filler until it has been at lease 2 weeks post injection, unless it is an emergency dissolving that is needed. We do not perform emergency dissolving for treatments done at other clinics. For emergency dissolving contact the clinic you had treatment had for next steps.
If non-emergency dissolving for treatment done elsewhere is something you think you may need, please book an initial consultation with Dr. Dawood, hyaluronidase treatments start at $250+ and several sessions are often required.
If for some reason you are unhappy with a treatment we performed for you, we can happily dissolve the filler with hyaluronidase.
What is Hyaluronic Acid Lip Filler?
Lip Filler contains Hyaluronic Acid, which is a naturally occurring sugar molecule that is found in the connective tissues of body. Hyaluronic acid absorbs and binds water molecules that helps contribute to Lip volume and contour.
Lip Dermal fillers made from hyaluronic acid can be used to help achieve a youthful appearance by replacing the hyaluronic acid that has naturally been lost with aging, and going beyond that by adding even more. Because hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in our bodies, it is safe to inject as long as it is done so in the capable hands of an expert Cosmetic Physician. It is rare to have an allergy to it, although most patients will have some slight bruising, redness, and swelling post-treatment, which will fade in a few days.
Juvederm, Belotero, or other injectable filler contains Hyaluronic Acid as its main ingredient. Your body naturally produces Hyaluronic Acid, but by injecting more we can rejuvenate and plump the lips. After injecting, your lips will combine water from within the body with the Hyaluronic Acid to replace lost tissue volume, and to plump the lip. The plumping effect after filler injection is what fills the Lips. It also lets us modify the contours of the lip, and shape and define it.
Lip Injection Recovery
Lip Augmentation with Lip Dermal Filler is a popular, and safe procedure, however, there are a few risks. All risks of the procedure will be detailed in full at your consultation, and prior to proceeding with treatment.
The Lips are a highly susceptible area to swelling, and many patients do notice swelling both immediately after injections and in the few days following. This is a part of the normal healing process of the body.
Some bruising and redness and soreness can also be expected after filler placement. Most symptoms will resolve in a few days, and after 2 weeks we will bring you back for a follow-up appointment to review your treatment and plan for further sessions if needed. We recommend avoiding strenuous exercise for 48 hours.
Other Treatments:
Patient’s often elect to receive other treatments either the same day or as part of their overall treatment plan. These may be great to enhance the overall facial profile, or address other issues of concern.

FAQ
Lip Filler
Question & Answer
-
When will I see results of Lip Injections?
Results are noticeable right away. You will notice plump, more shapely lips right away. After 2 weeks any swelling will settle, and you will love your new lips.
-
How Many Syringes Do I need?
All questions and treatment planning can be addressed at your consultation. Some patients require 2-3 syringes to be done over the course of time. It is possible to inject multiple syringes in 1 session as well.
-
How Long does Lip Filler Last?
Duration depends on individual patient factors. The average is 6-12 months. Most patients do tend to return after 6 months for most dermal filler treatments for re-treatment. Treatments are not permanent, and we make no guarantee of specific outcome.
-
Will people notice?
The goal is not to look “over done”. But to look natural. Will people notice? We hope they will! We want others to notice you have a youthful appearance, but without telling that you had something “major” done. Subtle, natural enhancement is the goal at KW Cosmetic Clinic.
-
Are fillers permanent?
No. The use of permanent fillers if heavily discouraged by most medical bodies and medical doctors. Permanent fillers have significant risks associated with them, like lumpiness, infection, migration, and worse. All fillers used at KW Cosmetic Clinic are temporary in nature. They are smoother, safer, and create more natural results.
-
Will I Bruise with Filler? Side Effects?
It is quite likely you will have a few tiny bruises, some redness, and swelling post-procedure. These are short-lived and subside in a few days, and are usually so minor no one will notice. During your consultation, our staff will answer any and all questions you have and go over aftercare instructions, as well as any potential risks or contraindications.
