We all want clear, beautiful, blemish-free skin. Some patient’s suffer from Rosacea, which is a common disorder that can affect patients of all ages.

Rosacea can have a wide variety of skin symptoms: redness, papules, pustules, facial flushing, telangiectasias (capillary prominence), burning and stinging, swelling, and skin dryness. Rosacea is often treated with a combination of topical medications, and cosmetic treatments like chemical peels, and high quality skincare products.

Chemical Peels for Rosacea

Using chemical peels can help control Rosacea. Typically a light Vivier Peel is recommended on an infrequent basis for Rosacea patients. This light peel, used at an infrequent basis can help with light exfoliation and treating Rosacea. Using peels too often is not advised as it can irritant and exacerbate Rosacea. This is in contrast to a condition like Acne which benefits from frequent peel application.

High Grade Skincare

Patient’s with rosacea may have difficulty with some skincare products. The key is to find high quality, non irritating products that can help treat the symptoms of rosacea. Frequent moisturization, gentle skin cleansing, and avoiding “irritating” products like toners, and excessively exfoliating with chemical and physical exfoliants. Cleansing the face with medical grade products like SkinMedica, Vivier, or other leading brands can help control rosacea. Generally speaking, patients on an optimized skincare regimen with medical-grade cleansers, moisturizers, and other products find their rosacea better controlled. Using anti-redness products can also help in controlling aspects of rosacea. The key is adequate but not excessive skin treatment.

Sun protection is also an important aspect in rosacea treatment. The sun is thought to be a trigger to redness and flushing. While sun avoidance is important, sun protection with high quality sunscreen is essential.

Topical Retinols are also helpful in treating and controlling Rosacea. The anti inflammatory and repairing properties of retinol can help treat the pustules and papules that occur in some rosacea patients.

Chemical peels are great options for Rosacea as it exfoliates the top surface of the skin, turning over dead skin cells, treating lesions, and treating rosacea-causing bacteria.
