Lip Fillers
Thin lips often create a lack of confidence and self-image. Thicker lips tend to be associated with seduction, beauty, and all beauty related things. Whether you’re born with narrow lips or develop them with age, there are ways to plump up narrow or thinning lips to enjoy softer and fuller lips.
Narrow or thinning lips can affect the look of your mouth and also lengthen the distance between the nose and lips. This will then alter the appearance of the face by changing your lower half. Augmenting your lips will change your face and your profile by giving your teeth, lips, and nose a better balance.
The idea is to have the perfect volume ratio: this is when the bottom lip is one third later than the top one. But over time, aging, sun exposure, and more can cause the Cupid’s bow in the top lip, and the arch shape between the lips to become less refined.
A great option to mitigate this is Lip Fillers. This is the non-surgical injectable solution. It doesn’t involve surgery, has less downtime than surgery, and you will see the results immediately. There are a wide range of fillers and types of fillers available, it would be best to consult with a medical professional before getting it done.
The most popular and commonly used fillers contain hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring protein in the body that begins to slow down as we age. The advantage of this, is that you can see the results immediately. But as someone who has never done it, you may have some questions.
What exactly is a lip enhancement?
It’s a cosmetic procedure that enhances the shape and size of your lips. This will give your lips a fuller look and more shape, and can also be injected into the Cupid’s bow.
What is hyaluronic acid?
It’s found naturally throughout your body, which will minimize the chance of an allergic reaction. However, like most functions, as our body ages or becomes damaged with UV rays, the production of Hyaluronic acid begins to slow down. Which then causes us to lose some of that shape.
How is the filler administered?
Lip fillers will have an immediate effect. It is not a permanent solution and will have to be re-administered over time. But the body will absorb some of its effect.
Is the procedure painful?
The discomfort of the procedure is minimal. We use a topical numbing cream to numb the area before being treated. The fillers themselves have a numbing agent in them, reducing the amount of discomfort felt.
Will my lips be bumpy or lumpy?
That is a common question, but we use an advanced technique involving cannulas that ensure low risks of having lumps and bumps following the procedure. The goal of dermal fillers is to look natural.
Do both lips have to be enhanced or can I just do my top lip?
This will be based on the consultation. To keep things even, sometimes the bottom lip may be injected as well to ensure the one-third ratio is kept even.
What are the side effects?
The best effect you will see is that your lips and plump and full. There may be some swelling following the procedure that will go away quickly. There may be a risk of bruising, but we have techniques that will help minimize the amount of bruising you will see. Any bruising that does appear where you were injected, will disappear after a few days.
